What to Expect From a Massage

Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?
Your massage or polarity session will take place in one of our warm, comfortable, quiet rooms (for more information, please browse through our Gallery). Soft music will be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.

Who will perform the massage or bodywork?
Your session will be conducted by one of our trained professionals who is trained and licensed by the state of Maine.

Will lubricant be used?
We use Biotone massage oil, lotion, and gel. The lubricants are used to permit your muscles to be worked on without excessive friction to the skin. These lubricants hydrate the skin and are readily absorbed. Essential oils may be added to enhance relaxation.

Must I be completely undressed?
You may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort, but you will be covered by a sheet and blanket at all times, only the part that is being worked on will be exposed. The therapist will not be present when you disrobe.

What parts of my body will be massaged?
You and the therapist will discuss the desired outcome of your session. This will determine which parts of your body require massage. A typical full body session (a minimum of 1.25 hours, go to the massage page for more information on types of massage, and rates) will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck and shoulders. You will not be touched on or near your genitals (male or female) or breasts (female).

Is a gratuity expected?
This is a question that is frequently asked. Massage and Polarity therapists are considered to be a part of the service industry and most clients do leave a gratuity to reward excellent service.
